My name is Jessica Kelstrup, I'm a junior Information Design major at Sage College of Albany.
In the IFD-303 Web class, I decided to approach the platform building project from a different perspective. I created a platform for a client rather than for myself. I essentially took on the role of a social media manager.
Platform for a Client
I created a platform for my friend, Matt Bradley, a graduating senior interested in a graphic design career. As an aspiring designer, it is important for Matt to be active in the social media world. Social media allows us to participate in the ongoing conversations of our particular career field, and in Matt's case, it's a great resource for daily design inspirations and ideas. The platform I created for Matt allows potential employers and clients to take a look at his resume and portfolio.
Learning Through Doing
Even though I did not create a platform for myself, this course has been an immense help. I am able to take part in the conversations of my field, publishing and library/information sciences, because the class familiarized me with the different social networks so I can navigate them more smoothly.
